Kent is highly connected by regional transportation networks. Interstate 5 (I-5) skirts the western edge of the city, while State Route 167 (the Valley Freeway) runs directly north-south through the center of Kent's industrial valley, serving as the primary commuter and freight artery.
Public transit is robust. Kent Station is a major regional transit hub featuring the Sounder commuter train, which provides rapid, traffic-free service to downtown Seattle and Tacoma. The station is also a major hub for King County Metro and Sound Transit express buses.
For freight, Kent is served by extensive BNSF and Union Pacific railway lines. The city is located just a few miles south of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac), providing excellent global connectivity. Bicyclists and pedestrians make heavy use of the Green River Trail and the Interurban Trail, which offer miles of paved, separated pathways running north and south through the valley.
