While Kent was historically known as the "Lettuce Capital of the World" and an epicenter for hop farming, large-scale commercial agriculture has almost entirely vanished from the city, replaced by the pavement of industrial parks and warehouses following the taming of the Green River.
Today, agriculture in Kent is localized and community-focused. The most prominent remnant of its farming heritage is Carpinito Brothers, a local family-owned farm and retail operation that grows produce on leased land in the valley, famous for its autumn pumpkin patch and corn maze. Additionally, the city supports community P-Patch gardens where residents can grow their own vegetables, and local farmers markets that operate during the summer months to provide fresh, regional produce to the community.
