Government

The Museum District is unincorporated and falls entirely under the municipal jurisdiction of the City of Richmond. Richmond operates under a Mayor-Council system of government. Residents of the district vote for the Mayor at large and elect representatives to the Richmond City Council. The neighborhood is actively represented by the Museum District Association, a volunteer civic organization that advocates for historic preservation, zoning issues, and community welfare.
