Public utilities

Public utilities for the Museum District are integrated into the City of Houston's municipal and franchised networks:

* **Electricity & Natural Gas:** **CenterPoint Energy** manages the electrical transmission and natural gas delivery infrastructure. Electricity is deregulated in Texas, meaning residents and businesses choose their own retail electric providers (e.g., Reliant, TXU). * **Water & Sewer:** **Houston Public Works** provides municipal water and wastewater services, drawing heavily from Lake Livingston, Lake Houston, and Lake Conroe. * **Waste Management:** The **City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department** provides curbside trash, recycling, and yard/tree waste collection. * **Telecommunications:** High-speed internet and fiber optics are widely available through providers like AT&T, Xfinity (Comcast), and localized fiber networks.
