Garland is highly connected to the broader DFW region via a robust transportation network. The city is bisected by several major arteries, including Interstate 635 (LBJ Freeway) to the south and the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) looping through the north. State Highway 78 serves as a major local corridor connecting downtown to neighboring communities.
Public transit is provided by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). Garland is serviced by the DART Blue Line, which features two light rail stations within the city limits: Downtown Garland Station and Forest/Jupiter Station, providing direct rail access to downtown Dallas. DART also operates extensive local bus routes throughout the city.
While Garland does not have a commercial airport, it is within a 45-minute drive of both Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL). The city is also continuously expanding its network of pedestrian and bicycle trails, particularly along its creek greenbelts.
