Monument is surrounded by vast expanses of untamed nature. It is situated near the **Umatilla National Forest** to the north and the **Malheur National Forest** to the south. These public lands provide habitats for diverse wildlife, including elk, deer, black bears, and various birds of prey, offering thousands of acres of protected pine forests and high desert ecosystems.
