Infrastructure

Ohio maintains robust and highly developed utility and telecommunications infrastructure. Electricity is supplied by a diverse grid; traditionally reliant on coal and natural gas, the state is rapidly incorporating utility-scale solar and wind projects, while retaining significant nuclear power generation via the Davis-Besse and Perry plants on Lake Erie.

Water infrastructure is excellent, drawing heavily on the immense fresh water reserves of Lake Erie and extensive groundwater aquifers, supported by regional municipal authorities.

Broadband internet is widely available in metropolitan and suburban areas. In recent years, both state and federal initiatives (like BroadbandOhio) have aggressively targeted the rural digital divide, laying fiber-optic networks across the Appalachian region and western agricultural counties to ensure universal high-speed access. The state is also rapidly expanding its EV charging network along major interstate corridors.
