Safety

Taoyuan is generally a very safe city with low crime rates, consistent with the rest of Taiwan. Residents and visitors alike can feel secure walking at night.

* **Emergency Numbers**: * Police: **110** * Fire / Ambulance: **119** * Emergency (from mobile): **112** * **Crime Overview**: Violent crime is rare. Petty crimes like bicycle theft or occasional pickpocketing in crowded night markets do occur but are not rampant. * **Traffic Safety**: The most significant safety concern for visitors is traffic. Scooters and cars can be aggressive, and pedestrian right-of-way is not always strictly observed. Visitors should be cautious when crossing streets and follow pedestrian signals. * **Natural Disasters**: Like all of Taiwan, Taoyuan is subject to earthquakes and seasonal typhoons (primarily summer and autumn). Buildings and infrastructure are built to strict seismic standards, and the city has robust emergency response systems in place.
