Religion

Taoyuan's religious landscape is diverse, encompassing traditional Taiwanese folk religion, Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, and Islam.

* **Taoyuan Jingfu Temple:** An iconic, historic Taoist temple in the heart of Taoyuan District, easily recognizable by its massive, ornate roof structure. * **Longtan Nantiangong:** A picturesque Taoist temple dedicated to Guan Yu, uniquely situated on an island in the middle of Longtan Lake. * **Longgang Mosque:** One of the few mosques in northern Taiwan outside of Taipei. It serves the local Muslim population, which includes descendants of soldiers from Yunnan, as well as a large community of Indonesian migrant workers. * **Christianity:** Numerous Presbyterian, Catholic, and independent churches serve both the local Taiwanese and indigenous populations (especially in the mountainous Fuxing district). * **Buddhism:** The city hosts numerous Buddhist monasteries and study centers, reflecting the predominant faith of many residents.
