Infrastructure

Spain's utilities and digital infrastructure are highly developed. The country boasts one of the highest penetrations of fiber-optic broadband internet in Europe, ensuring incredibly fast and reliable connectivity even in smaller provincial cities. Cellular coverage is ubiquitous, with widespread 5G rollout in major urban centers.

The electricity grid is robust and increasingly green, heavily reliant on wind, solar, and nuclear power. Water infrastructure, however, presents an ongoing challenge; due to the arid nature of the southern and eastern regions and increasing climate pressures, Spain relies heavily on extensive reservoir systems, inter-basin water transfers, and a vast network of desalination plants on the Mediterranean coast to ensure adequate supply for both agriculture and human consumption.
