### Rivers, Lakes & Waterways
Water is central to Mytishchi’s history and geography. The city sits on the watershed between the Moskva and Klyazma river basins.
* **Yauza River**: This major tributary of the Moskva River has its source in the swamps of Losiny Ostrov near Mytishchi. It flows directly through the city limits. * **Sukromka River**: A smaller river flowing through the urban areas, featuring landscaped embankments in some modern districts. * **Northern Reservoirs**: The city district borders a massive chain of reservoirs connected to the Moscow Canal, most notably the **Pirogovskoye Reservoir** and **Klyazminskoye Reservoir**. These serve both as the drinking water supply for Moscow and as premier recreational hubs.
