Mytishchi has experienced a spectacular housing boom since the early 2000s. The city's skyline has been transformed by the construction of massive, high-density residential complexes (known as *mikrorayons* or microdistricts).
The housing market is highly active. Condominiums and high-rise apartments are the standard, offering modern amenities at a lower price point than equivalent properties inside Moscow's borders. This affordability makes Mytishchi a magnet for young professionals and families.
In the historic outskirts of the city, particularly areas like Tayninka, one can still find enclaves of older single-family homes and traditional Russian *dachas* (summer houses), though these are increasingly being replaced by low-rise townhouses or premium residential developments.
