Topography

The topography of Balashikha is generally flat to gently rolling, characteristic of the central East European Plain. Elevations typically range from 130 to 160 meters above sea level. The landscape is subtly sculpted by the shallow river valleys of the Pekhorka and Gorenka. There are no major mountains or deep canyons; instead, the terrain is defined by forested plains, modest hills, and a series of artificial and natural lakes and ponds that historically provided water power for the city's early mills.
