Kadanad is administered locally by the Kadanad Grama Panchayat, a rural local self-government body operating under the Panchayati Raj system. The panchayat is divided into multiple wards, each electing a ward member. These members, in turn, elect a Panchayat President who serves as the executive head.
At the state level, Kadanad falls under the Pala Legislative Assembly constituency, represented in the Kerala Legislative Assembly (Niyamasabha). At the national level, it is part of the Kottayam Lok Sabha constituency. The local government is responsible for public public works, sanitation, local road maintenance, primary healthcare facilities, and the implementation of state welfare schemes.
