Geography

Kadanad is located in the "Idanad" or midland region of Kerala, forming a transitional zone between the coastal plains to the west and the mountainous Western Ghats to the east. The geography is characterized by undulating terrain, steep slopes, and fertile valleys.

The soil is primarily red laterite, which is highly porous, rich in iron and aluminum, and exceptionally well-suited for the cultivation of cash crops like rubber and spices. The village is intersected by small streams and rivulets that eventually feed into the Meenachil River basin. The dense canopy of trees and tropical vegetation provides a verdant landscape year-round.
