Agriculture

Agriculture is the lifeblood of Kadanad's local landscape and economy. The primary cash crop is natural rubber (*Hevea brasiliensis*), and virtually every landholding family maintains a rubber plantation, regardless of size.

Beyond rubber, farmers cultivate a diverse array of tropical crops including black pepper, coconut, areca nut, tapioca (cassava), plantains, nutmeg, and cocoa. Small-scale dairy farming and backyard poultry are also common, supplementing household incomes and providing local food security. Traditional organic farming practices are increasingly being integrated as farmers look to improve soil health and reduce chemical inputs.
