Infrastructure in Tehran Province is highly developed compared to the national average. Electricity is supplied by a robust national grid powered by regional thermal power plants (such as the Tarasht and Damavand power plants).
Water management is a critical issue; the province relies heavily on a system of dams in the Alborz mountains (Amir Kabir, Latyan, Lar, and Mamlu) as well as deep wells. Due to population growth and cyclical droughts, water scarcity is a persistent threat.
Telecommunications are advanced, with widespread 4G and growing 5G cellular coverage provided by operators like MCI and Irancell. High-speed broadband and fiber-optic internet are available, though users face significant state-mandated filtering and throttling, with traffic frequently routed through Iran's National Information Network (NIN).
