Isfahan is administered by the Isfahan Municipality (Shahrdari-e Isfahan) and is overseen by the Islamic City Council of Isfahan. The City Council consists of elected representatives who are responsible for appointing the Mayor, managing municipal budgets, and overseeing urban planning and development.
The city is administratively divided into 15 municipal districts, each with its own regional municipality office handling local services such as waste management, park maintenance, and local zoning. As the capital of Isfahan Province, the city also hosts the provincial government headquarters, including the office of the Governor-General, who is appointed by the central government in Tehran.
