Weather & climate

Indonesia features a classic tropical, equatorial climate, characterized by relatively constant temperatures, high humidity, and distinct wet and dry seasons. The Köppen climate classification designates most of the country as Tropical Rainforest (Af), with pockets of Tropical Monsoon (Am) and Tropical Savanna (Aw) in the southeastern islands like Nusa Tenggara.

Temperatures generally hover between 26°C and 30°C (79°F to 86°F) year-round at sea level, dropping significantly in mountainous areas. The dry season typically runs from April to October, making it the most popular time for tourism, while the wet monsoon season brings heavy rainfall from November to March. Due to its location, Indonesia is largely spared from tropical cyclones, but it is highly susceptible to earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and localized flooding or landslides during the heavy monsoons.
