Housing

The housing market in Indonesia is as diverse as its geography, deeply characterized by rapid urbanization. In major metropolises like Jakarta and Surabaya, there is a stark contrast between hyper-modern, luxury high-rise condominiums and traditional, densely packed urban neighborhoods known as *kampungs*. Due to high population density and rising land values, vertical living is becoming the norm for the urban middle class.

In suburban and rural areas, single-family homes and traditional architecture remain prevalent. Homeownership rates are culturally significant and generally high, though affordable housing in city centers is a pressing issue. To combat this, the government has implemented various subsidized housing initiatives, such as the *Fasilitas Likuiditas Pembiayaan Perumahan* (FLPP), aimed at helping low-income citizens secure mortgages and improve living standards.
