Housing

The housing market in Thrissur is exceptionally robust, fueled heavily by high-net-worth individuals and NRI remittances. The city has witnessed a massive transformation over the past two decades, transitioning from traditional large single-family ancestral homes (Tharavads) to modern high-rise apartments and luxury gated communities.

Real estate prices in and around the Swaraj Round are among the highest in the state, given the commercial and cultural premium of the area. Consequently, residential development has expanded aggressively into the suburbs. Neighborhoods like Punkunnam, Ayyanthole, and Puzhakkal have become hotspots for premium condominiums and luxury villas.

Affordable housing can be challenging to find within the central city, pushing middle- and lower-income families toward the outer peripheries. However, rental markets remain relatively dynamic, driven by the steady influx of students, medical professionals, and bank employees moving to the city for work.
