Karnataka has a highly developed transportation network. The road network is extensive, connecting remote villages to major cities via state and national highways. The state-owned bus operator, KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation), is recognized as one of the best public road transport systems in India.
In Bengaluru, the *Namma Metro* (rapid transit system) is actively expanding to ease the city's notorious traffic congestion, complemented by the BMTC city bus service.
Rail transport falls largely under the South Western Railway zone, connecting major hubs like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, and Mangaluru. Air travel is facilitated by the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru—one of India's busiest airports—along with international airports in Mangaluru and Hubballi, and domestic airports in Belagavi, Mysuru, and Kalaburagi. The New Mangalore Port is the state's major deep-water sea port, handling significant bulk cargo.
