Infrastructure

Karnataka's infrastructure is generally robust, especially in its urban and industrial corridors. Electricity generation is a mix of thermal, hydroelectric, and rapidly growing renewable sources. The state is a pioneer in solar energy, hosting the Pavagada Solar Park, one of the largest solar installations in the world.

Water supply in major cities is managed by specific municipal boards, such as the BWSSB in Bengaluru, which heavily relies on the distant Kaveri river, presenting ongoing infrastructural challenges due to rapid urban expansion.

Telecommunications and internet infrastructure are world-class in tech hubs, with widespread 4G/5G mobile coverage and high-speed fiber broadband availability. Rural electrification and connectivity have also seen near-universal coverage in recent years under various state and central initiatives.
