The region possesses a highly developed, modern infrastructure. Electricity is supplied by a mix of sources, notably the Blayais Nuclear Power Plant near Bordeaux and the Civaux Nuclear Power Plant in Vienne, supplemented by increasing solar installations and hydroelectric dams in the Pyrenees and Massif Central.
Water and sanitation systems are managed locally but coordinated on a massive scale by the Adour-Garonne water agency, ensuring the health of the region's complex river basins and agricultural needs.
Telecommunications are undergoing rapid modernization. The regional government is heavily invested in the "Nouvelle-Aquitaine Très Haut Débit" initiative, a large-scale project aiming to roll out high-speed fiber-optic broadband to 100% of the territory, eliminating rural "dead zones" and boosting remote work capabilities in the deep countryside.
