Futian District is located in the south-central part of Shenzhen, resting along the coastline of Shenzhen Bay. It is bordered by Luohu District to the east, Nanshan District to the west, and Longhua District to the north. To the south, the Shenzhen River forms a natural and political boundary, separating the district from the New Territories of Hong Kong.
The geography of Futian is largely defined by its transition from the coastal flats in the south to a more undulating, hilly terrain in the north. The southern coastline features the Futian Mangrove Ecological Park, a critical wetland reserve that serves as a sanctuary for migratory birds and provides a natural buffer for the urban environment.
Despite its intense urbanization, the district has retained significant green corridors. It enjoys a subtropical coastal environment, characterized by rich, though carefully manicured, urban biodiversity.
