Bangladesh has a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by wide seasonal variations in rainfall, high temperatures, and high humidity. The climate is primarily classified as Tropical savanna (Aw) and Tropical monsoon (Am) under the Köppen system.
The year is divided into three main seasons: a hot, humid summer from March to June; a cool, rainy monsoon season from June to October; and a cool, dry winter from November to February. During the summer, temperatures can exceed 35°C (95°F). The monsoon season brings around 80% of the country's annual rainfall, which averages between 1,500 mm to 3,000 mm depending on the region.
Due to its funnel-shaped coast and low topography, Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to natural disasters. Severe tropical cyclones frequently form in the Bay of Bengal during the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon periods, often bringing devastating storm surges. The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), when the weather is mild, dry, and comfortable.
