Despite being a densely populated metropolis, Dhaka retains vital green lungs. **Ramna Park** and **Suhrawardy Udyan** are historic, sprawling parks in the city center, offering tree-lined walkways and botanical diversity. The **National Botanical Garden** in Mirpur spans over 200 acres and houses thousands of plant species, located right next to the **Bangladesh National Zoo**. In Old Dhaka, the historic **Baldha Garden** is a walled botanical treasure dating back to 1909. Just outside the main city limits, within the Dhaka Division, lies the **Bhawal National Park**, a vast protected forest area known for its sal trees and diverse wildlife.
