Population

Victoria has a population of approximately 6.7 million people, making it the second-most populous state in Australia. The population is highly centralized, with over 75% of residents living in Greater Melbourne. Regional growth centers include Geelong, Ballarat, and Bendigo.

Victoria is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse places in the world. Approximately 30% of Victorians were born overseas. Significant communities include residents of British, Indian, Chinese, Italian, Greek, and Vietnamese heritage. English is the primary language, but Mandarin, Italian, Greek, Vietnamese, and Punjabi are widely spoken at home. The state boasts high levels of educational attainment and a diverse religious landscape, though a rapidly growing percentage of the population identifies as having no religion.
