Overview

Victoria is Australia's second-smallest state by land area, yet it is the second-most populous and arguably its most densely urbanized. Situated in the southeastern corner of the continent, it serves as an economic and cultural powerhouse for the nation. The state is characterized by its dynamic, cosmopolitan capital, Melbourne, which is consistently ranked among the world's most livable cities and serves as a global hub for sports, arts, and education.

Beyond its bustling capital, Victoria is celebrated for its remarkable geographic diversity packed into a relatively compact area. Within a few hours' drive, one can transition from the rugged alpine peaks of the Great Dividing Range to the semi-arid plains of the Mallee, or from lush, temperate rainforests in the Dandenong Ranges to the iconic, surf-pounded cliffs of the Great Ocean Road. The state's rich agricultural sector, renowned food and wine culture, and robust knowledge economy make it a cornerstone of Australian life.
