Infrastructure

Victoria's infrastructure is modern and continuously undergoing massive upgrades through a program known locally as the "Big Build," which includes major rail loops, level crossing removals, and new highway tunnels.

Historically reliant on brown coal generated in the Latrobe Valley for electricity, the state is aggressively transitioning toward renewable energy, with massive investments in wind farms, solar, and grid-scale batteries, overseen by a revived State Electricity Commission (SEC). Water security is managed via a network of reservoirs and a large desalination plant on the Bass Coast. Telecommunications are highly developed, with widespread 4G/5G cellular coverage and high-speed broadband via the National Broadband Network (NBN).
