Victoria features a diverse environment, ranging from alpine peaks and old-growth forests to semi-arid deserts and rugged coastlines.

* **Protected Areas:** The state boasts an extensive network of national parks, including the Grampians (Gariwerd), Wilsons Promontory, the Alpine National Park, and the Great Otway National Park. Parks Victoria manages around 18% of the state's landmass. * **Air and Water Quality:** Air quality is generally excellent, though it can be occasionally impacted by summer bushfire smoke or localized industrial emissions. Tap water is among the cleanest in the world and perfectly safe to drink. * **Sustainability & Climate:** Victoria has legislated a target of net-zero emissions by 2045. A significant transition is underway to replace coal-fired power from the Latrobe Valley with solar, wind, and battery storage. * **Recycling and Plastics:** The state has banned single-use plastics (like straws, cutlery, and plates) and introduced a Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) to improve recycling rates and reduce litter.
