Despite its small size, Victoria is an agricultural powerhouse, producing more than a quarter of Australia's food and fiber exports. It is the undisputed center of Australia's dairy industry, producing over 60% of the nation's milk, much of which is exported to Asia.
Other major agricultural outputs include beef, sheep (for both meat and premium wool), wheat, barley, and horticultural crops such as almonds, citrus, and stone fruits. Victoria is also internationally celebrated for its viticulture, boasting over 20 distinct wine regions, including the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, and Rutherglen, which produce world-class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and fortified wines.
